In line with IMO and SOLAS requirements
Radio Electronic holds the dominant position in Namibia's marine electronics sector, commanding an estimated 80% market share. How do regulatory knowledge and requirements impact your market, and in what ways do you believe Jotron contributes to this understanding?
New regulations imposed by IMO and SOLAS have affected our market as international clients conform. Jotron was the first and only one of our suppliers to offer certified products that are in line with these requirements. We are happy to be able to provide these products and after-sales services to our customers.
Available non-SOLAS products
Could you outline the critical factors that are essential in your market regarding GMDSS products and the non-SOLAS sector?
Our local regulations do not yet make provision for the latest technologies associated with the latest radio Regulations as prescribed by IMO and SOLAS. Therefore, our fleet still depends on older products such as search and rescue radar transponders (SARTs) which is required by our local authority. Such products are still available and supported by Jotron.
